How to Get Involved

Volunteer Application w/ Background Check
For the safety of our kids and to maintain compliance with Little League International policy, all volunteers who will have regular/recurring interactions with players must complete two tasks prior to assuming his/her duties.

1. Volunteer Application w/ Background Check - If when you registered your player, you selected a volunteer role (coach, umpire, safety or team parent, or general volunteer box), this completes the application. If not, log-in to your  Lemon Grove Little League Account, scroll down to the “My Roles & Certificates” section and click “Register as a Volunteer”. The application initiates the background check, and you will receive an email to complete the background questionnaire.

2. Abuse Awareness for Adults Training - This 20-minute training is to prevent abuse of minors through awareness. Complete training on the Little League University. Please send a copy of the completion certificate to our Safety Officer ( [email protected]Required to be completed by all volunteers each year

3. Diamond LeaderFocused on ensuring children have a positive, well-rounded experience on and off the field, this program is a FREE educational resource that provides coaches with an understanding of the impact that mental, social, and emotional well-being has in youth sports through detailed information, interactive scenarios, and a variety of additional resources. NOTE: Completion of this course is required for all tournament managers and coaches. After completing the program the first time, volunteers are strongly encouraged to go back to review all the content and resources available within the Diamond Leader course, however, they are only required to complete the program once and will only receive one certificate that will be valid for tournament coaching eligibility.

Note: Managers and coaches have additional training requirements listed on our Safety Training webpage.

Identification Badges
Once training requirements have been completed, an identification badge will be created after picture day ( or sooner) Make sure you stay connected for more information on your ID badge.

Volunteer with us

Little League Baseball and Softball is an organization designed to build good citizens. It is a program of leadership, preparing today's youth to be tomorrow's leaders. At the local level, Little League relies on a devoted legion of adult volunteers to help ensure that the organization remains structured and runs smoothly. Lemon Grove

Little League is always looking for responsible and enthusiastic individuals to support and coordinate Little League events and activities. If you have a keen interest in the safety, well-being, and overall development of children, volunteering with LGLL  might be for you.

No experience is required to become a volunteer. Most of the volunteer opportunities require little or no training. Lemon Grove  Little League will provide you with any necessary training (as well as support and encouragement), as it deems necessary.

The best volunteers are those who are able to bring added enjoyment to the game simply be being themselves. What you see during Little League games is a mere fraction of what you can do as a volunteer. You can volunteer to help in virtually any aspect of Little League Baseball or Softball.

Who Can Volunteer?

Anyone, from friends and family to members of the community can apply to become a volunteer. Whatever talents or skills you have, LGLL can use them!  All parents of children involved in Little League Baseball and Softball are strongly encouraged to volunteer. As a parent volunteer, you have the opportunity to spend quality time with your child in a safe, fun-filled environment. Oftentimes, parent and child social lives parallel each other. Volunteering allows your life and your child's life to intersect on common ground, with shared interests and goals.
