Lemon Grove Little League runs entirely on volunteer help. It is the policy of the league to do a background check on all of its volunteers that are in contact with the players or have access to their personal information. All volunteers are also required to complete the following items:
Background Check: Any individual wishing to volunteer (i.e. snack shacks, team parents, and coach) will be required to submit a volunteer application on our website which can be accessed at lemongrovebaseball.com. A hard copy of the “Little League Volunteer Application 2024” can be printed and submitted to Safety Officer however, digital submission is the preferred method. This form will be used to complete the background check. The information will be kept confidential by the Safety Office and/or President and will be destroyed at the conclusion of the season. By transitioning to the digital format we are able to run the background checks, and maintain records digitally without paper retention. Keeping volunteers information safe, but also keeping our children safe, since child safety is our #1 goal.
First Aid/CPR: All coaches and/or managers are required to attend/participate in first aid training, or provide certification prior to first practice. Free resources: https://www.americanbls.com/courses/online-first-aid-course/ https://www.americanbls.com/courses/bls-certification-online/
Diamond Leader Training: Focused on ensuring children have a positive, well-rounded experience on and off the field, the Little League® Diamond Leader Training Program is a FREE educational resource that provides coaches with an understanding of the impact that mental, social, and emotional well-being has in youth sports through detailed information, interactive scenarios, and a variety of additional resources. https://www.littleleague.org/diamondleader/
Concussion Training: There is a free required concussion training that can be completed online .

Abuse Awareness Training: California’s Assembly Bill 506 (AB506) went into effect on January 1, 2022. This new law sets new requirements for youth serving organizations in three areas: screening, training, and policies. All volunteers must complete child abuse and neglect reporting training. Please complete the free “Abuse Awareness for Adults Creating a Safe and Abuse Free Environment for Athletes” training before first team practice. https://www.usabdevelops.com/
Upon completion of the online course, participants can print/download a “Certificate of Completion” and submit a hard copy or email PDF to the safety officer.
